Pakistan Railways Halts Winter Schedule Temporarily

Published on:

Pakistan Railways has temporarily stopped using its winter schedule and decided to follow the summer timetable again. The decision comes after continuous issues with the railway’s engineering work and signal system, which have been causing frequent train delays across the country.

Summer Timetable Back in Effect

According to railway officials, this is the first time in Pakistan’s history that train services during the winter season will run under the summer schedule. Normally, the summer timetable is active from April 15 to October 14, but now it has been restarted from November 10, 2025.

Officials said the change was made to help manage the ongoing technical problems more effectively and reduce travel disruptions for passengers.

Long Delays Lead to Change

Sources within Pakistan Railways revealed that many trains were already facing long delays before the new decision was made. Engineering work on several parts of the track, especially between Lahore and Karachi, has increased travel time by over four hours.

Some trains that used to complete the trip in 20 hours are now taking almost 24 hours, creating inconvenience for passengers. The switch to the summer schedule is expected to help the department manage the system more smoothly during this period.

Temporary Step Until Repairs Are Done

A Pakistan Railways spokesperson explained that this change is only a temporary step. Once improvements in track maintenance and the signal system are completed, the regular winter timetable will be brought back.

He added that the department is working hard to upgrade railway tracks and fix technical issues to ensure safer and faster travel for passengers.

Advice for Passengers

Railway authorities have requested passengers to check and confirm the latest train timings before starting their journey. This will help them avoid any confusion or delays caused by the temporary change in schedule.

The department also plans to share real-time updates through its official website and helpline to assist travelers.

Commitment to Better Service

Pakistan Railways said it remains committed to improving its services and providing a comfortable and reliable travel experience. Officials hope that after the completion of repair and maintenance work, train operations will return to normal and travel times will be reduced again.
